Doug Atkin
Doug Atkin was previously President and CEO of Instinet Group, where he conducted Instinet’s IPO (NASDAQ: INGP). He also developed Instinet’s research, as well as its international trading and correspondent clearing businesses, and led a consortium of nine global brokerage firms that took a majority stake in the virt-x stock exchange. Doug serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Starmine, WR Hambrecht, and Tamale Software. He has been named twice to the Online Finance 30, Institutional Investor’s annual ranking of the most important leaders in international e-finance. Doug is a graduate of Tufts University.
Tony Berkman
Tony was previously Chief Risk Officer for Tower Capital, a $2 billion portfolio of hedge funds. Prior to Tower, he was a Director of Research for the $15 billion Zweig family of funds. Tony was named to Institutional Investor‘s “Online 40” annual ranking of e-finance leaders. He has a BS in Applied Math & Computer Science and an MS in Computational Finance from Carnegie Mellon University.
Seth Goldstein
Seth Goldstein, Co-Founder, was Entrepreneur in Residence at Flatiron Partners/JP Morgan Partners, where he built and managed a $75mm portfolio of technology startups. Before this, he was Founder and CEO of SiteSpecific, an early Internet marketing firm that was acquired. Seth was recognized by Red Herring as one of the top entrepreneurs of 1997.
William R. Hambrecht
Bill Hambrecht is a leading figure in the world of high-tech finance. He was a Co-Founder of Hambrecht & Quist, an investment banking firm that was largely responsible for making Wall Street comfortable with investing in Silicon Valley companies. Now he is the Founder, Chairman, and Co-CEO of WR Hambrecht + Co, a financial services firm that is using the Internet and auction process to level the playing field for investors and issuers.
WR Hambrecht + Co provides underwriting and advisory services for technology and emerging growth companies, as well as equity research, sales and trading, full service brokerage and private equity offerings with offices in San Francisco, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and London.
He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for The American University of Beirut and is on the Advisory Investment Committee to the Board of Regents of the University of California. He also serves on the Advisory Council to The J. David Gladstone Institutes and is on the board of Decision Economics and Majestic Research. Bill graduated from Princeton University in 1957.
Reid R. Miles
Reid R. Miles is Founder and CEO of Miles Howland & Co. LLC, a private equity investment firm based in New York. He is also a Partner in BV-Cornerstone Ventures, the lead investor in the Series A financing of Majestic Research. Reid has over 10 years of experience as a private equity investor, with specific investment experience in content management, financial services, healthcare, information technology, software, telecommunications, IT services, government contracting, and business services. Reid graduated with honors from Claremont McKenna College and resides in Manhattan.
Richard E. Perlman
Richard E. Perlman has been Chairman of the Board of TurboChef since October 2003. He was formerly Chairman of PracticeWorks, Inc., from March 2001 until its acquisition by The Eastman Kodak Company in October 2003. Richard served as Chairman and Treasurer of AMICAS, Inc. (formerly VitalWorks Inc.) from January 1998 and as a Director from March 1997 to March 2001, when he resigned from all positions with that company upon completion of the spin off of PracticeWorks, Inc. from VitalWorks. From December 1997 until October 1998, he also served as VitalWorks’ Chief Financial Officer. Richard is the Founder of Compass Partners, L.L.C., a merchant banking and financial advisory firm specializing in corporate restructuring and middle market companies, and has served as its President since its inception in May 1995. From 1991 to 1995, he was Executive Vice President of Matthew Stuart & Co., Inc., an investment banking firm. Richard received a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.
Bradly C. Reifler
Brad is a founding partner and Chief Executive Officer of Pali Capital Inc., an NASD member firm. Pali was acquired by the Euram Group in 2001. In 1982 he founded Reifler Trading Corporation, a firm engaged in the execution of global derivatives, which was sold to Refco, Inc. in 2000. In 1992, Brad founded Reifler Capital Management, a commodity pool advisor focused on commodity-based and foreign exchange trading strategies. From 1995 until 2000, he managed Refco, Inc.’s Institutional Sales Desk, where he was responsible for sales and execution of global derivatives, foreign exchange, and creating custom investment programs for institutional and high-net-worth clients. Brad serves on multiple boards and advisory boards, including the European American Investment Bank, Foresight Research Solutions, Genesis Securities, Root Markets, and the Lynn Cohen Cancer Foundation. He is also a Trustee of the Millbrook School and is on the Board of the Dutchess Day School. Brad received his degree from Bowdoin College
