Industry Experts Attending:

Pam Webber is the Director of Consumer Marketing for PayPal. Pam has spent the last six years in the Internet space working for eBay and PayPal in a variety of business, marketing, and product marketing roles. Previously, Pam worked in Corporate Strategy for Borden, Inc. and in Investment Banking for Donaldson, Lufkin, and Jenrette. Pam is a graduate of the Harvard Business School.

Walt Duflock is currently Senior Manager for Seller Development at eBay and has managed marketing, product, and education initiatives for the Trading Assistant program since its launch in 2002. Mr. Duflock sets and executes strategy for the overall program, whose members provide consignment selling services to consumers and businesses nationwide. Mr. Duflock also reviews emerging players in both the consignment services and consignment application space on an ongoing basis. Prior to his current role, Mr. Duflock launched and managed numerous programs at eBay from 1999-2002, including PowerSeller Marketing, Technology Category Management, Strategic Partnerships, and eBay Education.

Victoria Treyger is the Vice President of Merchandising for Travelocity where she is responsible for managing the product strategy, merchandising, and search functions. Prior to Travelocity, Victoria led marketing channel strategy for the Fee Services division of American Express. Victoria was one of the early pioneers in e-commerce. She joined Amazon.com in 1997, and during her four year tenure was responsible for launching Amazon.com’s first Gift Store in 1997, Amazon’s second hand book business, starting a team focused on direct marketing and site merchandising, and building and managing Amazon.com’s joint venture with Sotheby’s to sell premium art, jewelry, and collectibles online. Victoria also serves as an Advisor to Kosmix Corporation, an online vertical search startup.

Dean Carignan is a Lead Strategist at Microsoft Corporation’s Online Business Group (formerly MSN). Dean has 10 years of experience in the Internet space, running a boutique consultancy which specialized in online strategy, and subsequently managed McKinsey & Company’s eBusiness practice. At Microsoft, Dean is in charge of identifying emerging online technologies and business models before they become mainstream. He also develops monetization strategies for these new technologies (typically subscription or online advertising models). Prior to joining Microsoft, Dean managed McKinsey & Company’s eBusiness Practice, which advises Fortune 100 companies on their long-term strategies for web-based commerce. Prior to McKinsey, Dean founded and served as Managing Partner for a web strategy and design firm.

Anthony Soohoo was Vice President of Products & Strategy, HotJobs at Yahoo! Inc. until a few months ago when he left to pursue a start-up venture. Prior to his post at HotJobs, he was the General Manager at Yahoo Resumix. Prior to joining Yahoo! Resumix in 2001, Soohoo was co-founder and chief operating officer of Always Independent Network, a privately held broadband entertainment company that was sold to Hollywood Media Corp. (NASDAQ: HOLL). Previously, Soohoo held management positions in product management and brand marketing positions at Inktomi Corp., NEC, and Apple Computer. Soohoo received an AB in economics from the University of California, Davis, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Steven Ramirez is a film & media consultant with over 15 years of experience in entertainment and technology companies. He has held executive positions encompassing marketing, distribution, and acquisitions/co-productions at New Line Cinema (VP Marketing for the DVD division), Warner Bros. (Director of International Operations), and 20th Century Fox (Executive Management Program). Ramirez is familiar with online video rental (e.g., Netflix), video on demand, Blu-Ray vs. HDDVD technology, broadband, and various outlets for downloading digital videos. He has launched new products at retail with channel partners like Wal-Mart and Best Buy. Ramirez also serves on the Board of the Film Arts Foundation and teaches The Business of Film at UC Berkeley. He earned both his BA and MBA degrees from Berkeley.
